The 24th Annual A4M World Congress concluded on Sunday, December 11, with thousands of participants, all of whom gathered to further their knowledge and understanding of functional, personalized medicine. The delegates collectively gathered at the Venetian/Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas for the three-day conference from December 9-11, which provides CME credits in preventive and integrative medicine through educational sessions, interactive lectures, and an exhibit hall that hosts hundreds of exhibiting companies. In addition to five keynote presentations, the Congress featured 84 lectures, 82 speakers, 20 learning tracks, sponsored workshops, and product presentations. The conference reinforced the overarching aim of preventive and integrative medicine, coupled with the critical need to shift the landscape of healthcare in order to better diagnose and treat patients. Delegates were asked to consider the implementation of changes and protocols in their respective practices and professions, and how ‘all the pieces come together:’ the central theme of the conference. Some of the most prominent and influential leaders in medical technology and healthcare delivered keynote addresses throughout the conference. Renowned neurologist Dr. David Perlmutter presented his findings on rewriting the brain, highlighting the link between brain health and nutrition. Underlining the importance of wellness and nutrition, leading Harvard Medical School expert Dr. David Ludwig discussed the ways in which people are always hungry, and the triggering factors and catalysts that lead to the need for food, while Dr. Michael Greger addressed the impact of food and nutrition on health, focusing on ways in which to prevent and treat disease with diet. While many presentations offered specific diagnostic criteria for disease, many speakers simultaneously focused on the broader picture of changing medicine. Pioneering cancer doctor and researcher Dr. David Agus discussed ways in which practitioners and professionals in medical healthcare can thrive in the new world of healthcare, while Dave Asprey — founder of Bulletproof and podcast host — examined the link between mitochondria and willpower, while providing information and techniques to improve the body’s biochemistry while optimizing the abilities of the body and mind. In addition to speakers, lectures, and educational sessions, the exhibit hall boasted 350+ exhibitors, whose products included aesthetic devices and equipment, nutraceuticals, and high-tech medical equipment. Several companies offered product showcases, which demonstrated the products’ potential impacts on patients and professional practices. Overall, the conference offered an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the industry: the optimal platform for its delegates to establish new business contacts, receive extensive education engineered to enhance practices and patients, and network with medical professionals from an array of disciplines and fields. The World Congress event concluded with its participants understanding and internalizing its initial theme: all the pieces coming together.
